Over the last one and a half years that I’ve spent in the U.S. I have not only completed my Master’s Degree in Public Communication and started my work for the German-American Heritage Foundation, I have also met incredibly smart and empowering people. One peer I met at American University is Matthew Hurst. I got to know him as a very tech-savvy social media native who was always ready to answer questions and offer help with new social media tools that were new to me. This week I was honored to be included in Matthew’s ” December’s 7” Blog post. Every month he shares a short list of ideas that deserve attention. Here’s what he wrote:
Colleague: Nina Keim. I met Nina as a Graduate student at American University (maybe Classmate is a better title), and have always been impressed by her initiative. Unlike some of my peers, Nina displays an endless curiosity; she seeks out new ideas in communication and isn’t afraid to try them out for herself, often before their value is readily apparent. Rather than merely acting as an informer, Nina embodies the role of an opinion leader in her own right.
Matthew is pretty active on Twitter. Follow him at @MattHurst. His Blog Matthew Hurst is Public deserves the same attention.

You are very kind to acknowledge me in this way, and thank you for contributing to my own understanding of social media. I meant every word I wrote, and hope it helps others recognize your talent as a colleague.
I’m also glad to be able to call you my friend.
